After the F-11
Tiger was
removed from the mount at the entrance to the Pensacola Regional
Airport, #3 was loaded by crane onto a Dump Truck. A short drive across
the airfield #3 arrived on our ramp where it will be dismantled by the
National Museum of Naval Aviation maintenance personnel for
shipping. |
| This F-11 Tiger has been
on display at the entrance to the Pensacola Regional Airport since 1966.
#3 was dedicated to Herbert Hunter who was a Lieutenant when he flew
with the Blue Angels. CDR Hunter was killed in action July 1967
while attempting to land his wounded aircraft aboard the carrier.

The rain did not
slow down the progress as the workers offload #3 with great care. |
| Close to getting
back on the ground. |
 |
 |
Safely on the
ground. Now all that is left to do is get it disassembled. How long have
those wing and tail bolts been in there? |
| After hours, and
hours, and hours, and ........................................ The bolts
were finally removed, the wings were removed, and the loading has
started. Proper rigging for the trip to Titusville is essential! |

 |
Just about loaded
for the trip to Titusville where this F-11 will be restored and put on
display at Valiant Air Command museum. Replacing the F-11 Tiger will be
an A-4 Skyhawk which was used by the Blue Angels for many years. |
