Ivan's eye wall passing over Gulf Shores Alabama at 1:45 AM Local time. This was a BIG one. The storm surge came in at high tide, and the wall of water is estimated to have been higher than 56 feet, with a wall of water 30 feet high hitting inland areas. The Cross on Pensacola Beach (where the Blue Angels roll out during the Solo maneuvers) where the first Mass was held in 1559, sitting atop a sand dune, survived. This is the only sand dune that survived on the beach. I guess there are things that even God will not destroy in his anger.

Six months after Ivan, Pensacola is coming back to life! Our new facility is finally complete, and we have moved in. The new hangar and shop has made our life so much better! Memories of the past year seem so far away, but we will never forget 2004. Some stats for those who like them. 4 Hurricanes, a tropical storm, and a massive mess for the state. Of all the damage caused by the 2004 hurricane season, 1/2 of the cost is in Florida. 56 Billion dollars in damage to the country, 26 Billion to the state of Florida, 13 Billion to Pensacola and the surrounding area's. The last numbers show that with 50% of the damage, only 17% of those affected have asked for aid. Those who are looking for handouts will get them, but for the rest we work hard, and we will re-build!
